NCLEX Exam Pattern

The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is a standardized exam that nurses must pass to become licensed to practice nursing in the United States and Canada. General Guidelines for NCLEX:

  • Preparation: Thorough review of nursing content, practice with question banks, understanding of test-taking strategies, and simulation of test environment.
  • Registration: Candidates must apply for licensure/registration with a nursing regulatory body and register with Pearson VUE, the test administrator.
  • Identification: Valid identification must be presented at the test center.
  • Results: Results are typically available within six weeks, though some states offer quick results services.

The NCLEX exam is designed to assess the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for safe and effective entry-level nursing practice.
